Application-oriented research
The Project provides the application-oriented research and development which is directed to applications of proteomics in area of biomedical researches and public health.
The problems of the Russian part of the Project are:
- to coordinate the technical potential and human resources of the research institutions within the scope of priority Project;
- to search for the biomarkers for disease diagnostics and prognosis or drug monitoring by proteomics, such as mass spectrometry and protein microchips; to search protein drug targets and bioactive compounds directed to the protein targets by proteomics for new drug design;
- to manage the structural studies of clinically significant proteins detected by proteomics and bioinformatics using methods of structural biology and bioengineering, such as X-ray structure analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance, molecular design and computer-aided mutagenesis;
- to develop bioinformatic technologies of processing the data from high-throughput proteomics, structure modeling, dynamics and function of protein and complex supramolecular systems like bio-membranes;
- to train the scientists in the area of postgenome technology.
